In the demo starter kit, the game was a very simple 2D action game with simple options and set goals. The creators allowed the player to have 3 choices in a weapon: a sword, a bow and a magic wand. These are fine for choices as they cover the basic and generic weapon types in an action game. However, there is a problem with the controller mechanics. One can only shoot in a line depending on how you are facing. I would allow the mechanic of shooting diagonally at monsters especially the bat. It moves in a figure eight type of way depending on where the player is, making it hard for the player to pick a direction to face in order to attack the bat without dying quickly.
The music can be a bit more dangerous sounding when entering the dungeon of monsters. Even though this looked like a low budget game, I would make simple things like the BGM cause the player to have a feeling of adventure and risk when facing the monsters.
